Just In Case You’d Forgotten, District Attorney Susan Hawk Still Isn’t at Work

And pretty much hasn't been all year.

The erstwhile Dallas County district attorney is currently at Sierra Tucson, a facility that specializes in treating mood and anxiety disorders and addiction. How many days has she worked this year? Just 66. That is 44 percent of all possible workdays. Hawk’s first assistant Messina Madson — elected by no one — has been running the office in her stead and has essentially been the DA all year.

Will Hawk resign before the August 26 cutoff date to put the office on the November election? Will she resign after that, so the governor has to appoint someone? Or will she resign at all? I honestly wouldn’t be surprised if she ran for re-election, at this point.
