AT&T has increased its speeds with its business fiber service. The offering now gives Dallas businesses upload speeds of up to 1 gigabit per second.
The speeds allow businesses to download 8,000 word processing documents in 1 second, download a two-hour high definition video in 36 seconds, and backup or restore a 1 terabyte hard drive in two and half hours.
Nationwide, the Dallas-based company is also launching U-verse Business Voice, its voice over IP service that gives customers voice capabilities via the Internet. The service will provide standard calling features plus services that will allow customers to managing calling features, call preferences and voicemail over the Internet.
In addition to Dallas, the upgrades are available to AT&T Business Fiber customers in Chicago, Miami, and San Francisco. More markets are expected to be announced in the near future, AT&T said in a released statement.
In Dallas-Fort Worth alone, AT&T has invested more than $2.7 billion in wireless and wireline networks between 2013 and 2015.
The gigabit service already reaches 1 million incremental business customer locations across the nation. More than 980 multi-tenant office buildings and 96,000 business customer locations in DFW already have access.
The company also provides gigabit service to residential areas in Dallas-Fort Worth in more than 30 communities. The company’s Dallas debut of the service was in Highland Park and University Park two years ago. Since then, it’s been rolling it out in cities across DFW.
