Tim Love is the chef and owner of beloved restaurants like Lonesome Dove, Queenie’s, and Love Shack. Today his empire has grown to employ more than 350. Love, who’s also the host of CNBC’s “Restaurant Startup” program, just announced an Italian pop-up in Fort Worth called Ufficio. Later this month, he’ll host the first of a four-part dinner series there.

What do you enjoy most about what you do? Cooking and making people happy. When they’re happy, I’m happy!

What’s the toughest challenge you’ve had to overcome? Patience! We live in a world of immediacy. The hardest thing for me to learn was that nothing comes easy in this business. You have to put your head down and work hard!

What are your proudest moments? The day my wife said yes when I proposed, and the day my kids were born.

What’s the best business advice you can offer? Never stop learning. It’s easy to get caught up in your own cycles, but you advance your understanding of business outside of your own fence.

What has you most excited about the future? I’m excited for the growth of my company. I currently employ more than 350 people and am so excited to see these professionals grow as experts in their fields.

What would people be surprised to learn about you (fun fact)? I was convinced I was going to be a professional soccer player. I also play the drums any chance I get!

What educational degrees do you hold, and where were they earned? I have a bachelors degree in finance and marketing.

Name one item on your bucket list: To play the drums on a big stage with a headlining band.

What’s your beverage of choice? Tequila, white wine, and coffee—in that order

What kind of car do you drive? Range Rover

What’s your hobby/passion? My family is my life, but eats, drinks, and fun are certainly my passions

What’s your favorite travel destination? This may be the hardest question of all. It all depends on the season and my purpose. I love the mountains in the summer and the beach in the winter. I love New Orleans for brunch, London for dinner.
