OK, OK, I Made Another New Dallas Flag

TVSHOWFLAG

A few people didn’t like my other flag. I guess, specifically, they didn’t like my WHO CARES? attitude about it. I had all night to think about it, and though it pains me to say it, I have to admit that they’re right. So I spent all morning creating this new flag, took it very seriously, weighed everything I think this city wants and needs and deserves, really, in a new flag, and I really, sincerely hope you love it. Namaste.

[Giggles, thinks about posting Eddie Izzard bit about Britain’s “cunning use of flags,” Googles “Dressed to Kill” concert, watches for two hours, forgets to post.]

Sorry, it violates principle #4 of the North American Vexillilogical Association’s Principle of Good Flag Design.

  • dallasmay

Wouldn’t you like to live in a city that was proud of something that everyone could take part in?

    • dallasmay

What if there was something in the city tied all of the citizens together.

      • dallasmay

What if we actually got the citizens and local businesses to buy in? Could we make the city better with a new flag?

        I think we can.

        • @zaccrain

          It’s a flag.

          • dallasmay

You are right. It’s a flag. School children every day pledge allegiance to “a flag”. There is currently a very heated debate in a number of states over “a flag”. “A flag” has lead armies into battle for thousands of years. A flag can affect people on a deep emotional level like very few things can.

Yes, it’s a flag. But I really do believe that a flag can change people for good. Why would you be so cynical about this? If “a flag” had even a small chance at making the residents of Dallas just a little bit more proud of their home city, and inspire them to become better citizens, isn’t that a chance worth taking?

          • @zaccrain

You’re right. Our local army needs something. Withdrawn.

          • dallasmay

            I accept your apology.

  • MattL1

It’s a bit better than your last attempt, so congrats on not wasting your morning, I guess?

    • @zaccrain

      It is a flag.

  • Wylie H Dallas

I will pray for your soul.

    • @zaccrain

      OK. Cool. It’s a flag.

  • Amy S

    I like it. Thank you.

    • @zaccrain

      You’re welcome.

Can the other side of this say “Cowboy Clichè”? Too French?

I think some slight adjustment to the size and kerning is in order, because it looks a bit like a fat man in a little suit. Outside that, it’s superb.
