Happy Fourth of July Eve. The Founding Fathers would probably be displeased to see that you’re spending the holiday reading a blog, so let’s make this quick. For America. Then you can go spark bottle rockets and chug corn dogs.

Friday (07/03)
Twilite Lounge is celebrating its birthday with three days of free shows, including a Saturday night performance by the Old 97’s. For more concerts to see this weekend, go here.
There’s only one art exhibit opening in Dallas this weekend, but it’s a real doozy. The highlight of Irrational City, to my eyes, is a series of prints that reimagine Dante’s Inferno in a post-apocalyptic Dallas. That opens at the Bath House Cultural Center on Friday night.
We assure you that you will not have the time of your life at this production of Dirty Dancing, but if you don’t trust us, that’s at the Music Hall at Fair Park through the weekend.
You might have a slightly better time at Annie, which wraps up its run at the Winspear.
A few places are celebrating the Fourth of July early, and I will again refer you to our definitive guide on where to celebrate Independence Day. Kaboom Town is probably the biggest show around Friday night, but I haven’t been since 2009, when I spent four hours sitting in traffic after the fireworks ended.
Saturday (07/04)
Fourth of July events worth highlighting again include the Brass Knuckle Corndog Beatdown at the Libertine, where an orgy of cornmeal and meat will lead to one brave eater being crowned the most disgusting appetite in Dallas.
The celebration and fireworks at Fair Park make for the best show in town — find the vantage point of your choice.
Sunday (07/05)
The Fine Arts Chamber Players will perform a free show at the Dallas City Performance Hall on Sunday afternoon.
Duck into a movie theater and see Arnold’s return to the Terminator franchise, or watch Mark Ruffalo play a chain-smoking, bipolar dad in Infinitely Polar Bear.
