In our June issue, Dick Reavis has a story about a cool startup that is making clothes in Dallas (the story is also about the history of apparel manufacturing here). The man behind the startup is a chap named Matt Alexander, and his company is called Edition Collective, which serves as an umbrella over Need and Foremost. A couple of things were happening just as we went to press with the June issue. First, it was announced that Alexander was named a regional finalist for the EY Entrepreneur of the Year. We were able to sneak that information into a caption on the story. What we couldn’t get into the story, though, was that they were wrapping up their seed funding, hiring more people, and moving their company downtown, to Alto 211 (a renovated tower across from Thanks-Giving Square). Alexander made the announcement here. The one thing that Alexander didn’t announce — which we can reveal here exclusively — is that he has landed a starring role on Deadliest Catch.
