Is there a Democrat in the house?

Benson

D’Metria Benson is the worst civil court judge in Dallas County. As the Observer recently noted, every two years, the Dallas Bar conducts a poll to rate our judges; Benson winds up at the bottom of the heap. In 2013, 86 percent of the 294 lawyers who shared their opinion of Benson said that her work needs improvement.

In November, thanks to straight-ticket voting, Benson beat Republican challenger Russell Roden. Accordingly, on March 2, she will hold a “re-election celebration” at Times Ten Cellars. Attendees are encouraged to give in the following increments: Platinum $2,500, Gold $1,000, Silver $500, Partner $250. Who would donate money to the worst judge in Dallas County? Well, when Benson held a fundraiser last summer at Times Ten, here’s who ponied up:

It seems a Republican wouldn’t have a shot at Dallas County Court at Law 1. But any Democrat with a pulse should be able to beat Judge Benson. Start with the names above. Surely they’d be happy to donate to a qualified candidate.
