The late Diana Vreeland was the one-time editor of Vogue and Harper’s Bazaar, and the fashion icon was a woman of considerable accomplishments in her time. Her influence has lasted long after her death, however. Vreeland’s aesthetic choices toward incorporating international elements in her magazines have had a lingering impact on both the publishing industry, and the fashion world in general. But even beyond her singularly refined taste in clothes, was just how quotable the lady was. Just shave some time off of you work day by reading 50 of her most polished gems compiled here.
Traces of that wit will be captured in the one-woman play that opened in Addison over the weekend; WaterTower Theatre’s production of Full Gallop. It chronicles a particularly tumultuous period of Vreeland’s life, when she was forced to reinvent herself following the end of her tenure at Vogue. I’m going if only to hear some of the perfectly constructed lines, since I know the show already has that going for it. That’s at 7:30 this evening, at the Addison Theatre Center.
