See the Von Erichs Wrestle at UT-Arlington

The family's third generation will perform at Slammiversary.

In republishing our 1988 story about the famed Von Erich family of professional wrestlers, last week I mentioned that Marshall and Ross Von Erich — sons of Kevin, grandsons of “Fritz” — will perform at an event in Galveston in July.

Well, since then it’s been announced that you can see them much closer to their ancestral home on June 15 at TNA’s Slammiversary event at UT-Arlington. The press release of the announcement:

TNA  today announced the first family of Texas wrestling Kevin Von Erich and his sons, Marshall and Ross, will be part of the sizzling summer spectacular Pay-Per-View  Slammiversary, taking place Sunday, June 15 at the College Park Center at the University of Texas at Arlington and broadcast to millions around the globe.

Ross, 26, and Marshall, 21, will wrestle as the Von Erich 3G (VE3G), homage to their legendary wrestling roots. Accompanying them to the ring on Father’s Day will be their dad Kevin, whose storied career includes numerous championships as both a singles and tag team competitor.

“Seeing my boys enter the ring on Father’s Day will be one of the proudest moments of my life. I am looking forward to it and looking forwarding to being back in the Dallas area,” said Kevin. “I now understand how my father felt when my brothers and I entered the ring.”

Ross and Marshall, who excelled in high school athletics, were trained by their father and attended the acclaimed wrestling school of the great Harley Race. In recent years the tag team has trained and competed in Pro Wrestling Noah in Japan.

“TNA is again making history by debuting the third generation of Von Erichs at our anniversary celebration Slammiversary. Seeing Kevin accompany his boys to the ring on Father’s Day in the city that played home to the illustrious Von Erich’s for decades will be a special moment for all in attendance and for viewers around the world,” said TNA President Dixie Carter. “Growing up in Dallas, my brother and I watched the Von Erichs, and I am honored to be part of bringing fans the next crop of this renowned wrestling family.”

“Thank you to Dixie Carter and TNA for inviting us to be part of this wonderful Slammiversary event. What a wonderful Father’s Day gift for Kevin Von Erich,” said Lisa Renee Andrews, Manager of Kevin Von Erich and Family.
