William Ash led a life that mocks you.

An alert FrontBurnervian points us to the Telegraph obituary of William Ash, a Dallas son who has died at the age of 96 and who lived a life unlike any other. An incomplete list of his accomplishments: worked as a cub reporter for the Dallas Morning News, in which capacity he saw the bodies of Bonnie and Clyde in their getaway car; graduated from UT with honors; became a rail-riding hobo; enlisted in the Royal Canadian Air Force; flew Spitfires in World War II; tried to escape so many times from the Stalag Luft III that they made a Steve McQueen movie about his efforts called The Great Escape; and, oh yeah, then became novelist.
