Last night, I got to see the Veronica Mars movie. I was so happy. And then this morning, I woke up to the tragic news out of Austin. Everyone stay safe.
The big-deal concert this evening is Elton John at American Airlines, which I assume they hosed down after Miley Cyrus last night. There are plenty of tickets available, via Ticketmaster and various resale points, but it’ll cost you. It’s almost definitely worth it, though, considering John’s ability to command a crowd. The 66-year-old musical chameleon is on tour supporting The Diving Board, a personal, piano-driven album full of brand-new material that proves John and his longtime writing partner, Bernie Taupin, have only gotten finer with age.
Another musical option is rapper 2 Chainz, a producer who’s put his Midas touch on any number of chart-topping songs, who has a show at South Side Ballroom in support of his solo efforts. Pusha T and August Alsina round out the bill for his 2 Good to be T.R.U. tour.
Also, ronight is your last opportunity to catch the Dallas Theater Center’s Fortress of Solitude in preview mode. Try and do that.
