I know you’ve been waiting on pins and needles. But it’s Wednesday, folks, and occasionally you must make your own fun.

Superchunk, possibly the platonic ideal of a ’90s indie act, plays Trees tonight with support from Waxahatchee. This is one of those times it’s well worth showing up for the opening act. Over on FrontRow, Christopher Mosley writes that Superchunk was Merge Records’  superstar long before Arcade Fire came along and cemented the label’s power. Nearby Lemongrass Asian Bistro hasn’t gotten a ton of love lately, but I’m a fan of the spicy cabbage salad, even if my tolerance for spicy things doesn’t actually allow me to eat much of it.

Also this evening, the Sammons Centers kicks off their spring season of jazz programming with a New Orleans-inspired concert with the Fredrick Sanders Quartet and the N’Awlins Gumbo Kings. The $40 ticket includes both sets, valet parking, drinks, and a light meal.
