Tickets to tonight’s On the Eve performance at Theatre Three are “very limited,” according the theater’s ticketing system, so if you don’t click over in time, let this be a reminder to snag a seat for later in the run. I saw this show, a completely local production, in the smaller Margo Jones Theatre space in Fair Park last year. I thought it was great. I saw it again with our theater critic, Lindsey Wilson, on Monday. It’s still all sorts of wonderful, and Home by Hovercraft has put together a score that I could listen to over and over. (I seriously could, and you can, too, since quite of a few songs from the musical are included on their album We Are Chameleons.) Anyway, FrontRow’s theater critic Lindsey Wilson and I could not agree more when we say that you must go see this. If you like theater even the smallest bit, or you just like fun and the feeling of living, it’s for you.
Also this evening, the officially-official reunion of Dallas band Pleasant Grove at the Kessler Theater. They’re playing with Crushed Stars, the indie pop act that played at Good Records on Tuesday. For more on the band, I’ll direct you to FrontRow.
Saturday
Sarah Jaffe returns to the play the Granada, accompanied by Sam Lao and Zhora, finding time for her own show after a tour with Midlake and that Eminem hook. You can still get tickets online.
If you have a child, or are full of childlike wonder at heart, the USA Kid Film Festival is happening both Saturday and Sunday. Our Peter Simek says it’s the best kid’s movie festival around, and of course I believe him. It’s also totally free to attend this year, which is awesome. You can get tickets at the Angelika Film Center’s box office the day of the screening an hour before the film.

If you’re watching the Grammy’s, root for Denton’s Snarky Puppy. Otherwise, try Dance Theatre of Harlem at the Bass Hall. The company is performing here for one night only.
Sunday afternoon, get a behind-the-scenes look at the Dallas Opera’s upcoming “robot opera,” Death and the Powers, and join the opera’s director of productions John Toia in a conversation about the art form and technology.
