If you ever want to know what it’s like being Joe Jonas, aka one-third of the Jonas Brothers, New York magazine has published a pretty fascinating as-told-to piece. In it, the erstwhile Westlake resident (he has a home there I think he still lives in, or maybe at least one of his bandmate brothers still does, or his parents and youngest brother do) talks about being part of the Disney machine, losing his virginity, and smoking pot with Demi Lovato and Miley Cyrus.
I interviewed the Jonas Brothers in 2009 for Rolling Stone (mutters under breath “.com”) when they were in tour rehearsals at the American Airlines Center. My experience behind the scenes led to this back-page column and, more important, this awesome illustration of me playing ping-pong (it makes sense in context, probably) using the Jonas Brothers as ping-pong balls. Did I get Joe Jonas to open up about being part of the Disney machine then? No. Not even a little. What am I, Morpheus? Listen, I can’t break someone out of the Matrix unless they are ready for it. I DON’T EVEN KNOW KUNG FU.
