Star Wars: A New Hope, by Antonio Ramiro Romo
The Galactic Empire is building the Death Star, a weaponized space station that will allow the Empire to crush the Rebel Alliance once and for all. One of the Alliance’s leaders, Princess Leia, steals the plans to the Death Star, but she is captured by Darth Vader. But she hides the plans in R2-D2, a droid, and he and his counterpart C-3PO escape to Tatooine. The droids eventually wind up in the employ of Luke Skywalker and his aunt and uncle. Luke discovers a message from Princess Leia that she put into the R2 unit. He helps the droids find their way to Obi-Wan Kenobi, an old Jedi Knight who is now a hermit in exile.
While he is locating Kenobi, Luke’s aunt and uncle are murdered by Imperial troops, called stormtroopers. With nothing left for him on Tatooine, Luke asks Kenobi to take him along to Alderaan and train him in the ways of the Jedi. Obi-Wan agrees, and he and Luke hire Han Solo, a smuggler, and his Wookie co-pilot Chewbacca to take them to Alderaan to find Princess Leia. But Alderaan has been destroyed by the Death Star.
The group sneaks aboard the Death Star and escapes with Princess Leia, though Obi-Wan is killed in the process in a lightsaber duel with Darth Vader. A talented pilot, Luke joins the Rebel Alliance on its mission to destroy the Death Star. Though many of the fleet dies in the attack, Luke manages to pilot his X-wing fighter into a trench that leads to the exhaust port that is the space station’s only weakness.
