Only one more day to perfect your spooky, scary costume.
If you’re already all set, your reward is a free party. The People Last Stand’s Halloween extravaganza includes complimentary snacks, cocktails (you get two free drink tickets upon arrival), live music, classic slasher flicks, and a fortune teller. DJ Blake Ward handles the spooky soundtrack.
Elsewhere, LA folk band He’s My Brother, She’s My Sister, fronted by a real live brother and sister duo, take over Club Dada. If you like folk, psychedelic, pop, and rock, there’s a pretty good chance you’ll like these guys. Song Preservation Society and Caught a Ghost support. Also, I have no doubt that the folks behind the bar at nearby Black Swan Saloon can make you a seasonally appropriate cocktail.
And then there’s the Dallas Opera’s production of Carmen. FrontRow’s Wayne Lee Gay has given the opera his stamp of approval, calling it “a showcase for two great singers, and it’s the performances by [French mezzo-soprano Clémentine] Margaine and [Mary] Dunleavy that make this a Carmen worth seeing and hearing.” Margaine, in her American debut, plays the title role.
