The team has called a press conference for noon today to officially announce its naming rights deal for Cowboys Stadium with AT&T. So I guess on Monday when Stephen Jones said talk of a deal was “premature,” he meant the story had leaked out a few days before they’d intended it to.
Terms of the deal aren’t known yet, according to CBSDFW.com. The site notes that Jones had previously desired a deal in the $25-million-a-year range, but that recent agreements for stadiums elsewhere may have altered those hopes.
The CBSDFW post went up at 9:13 a.m. The timestamp on Richie Whitt’s post that mentions the press conference this morning is 8:45 a.m. Forgive me if someone else was the first to announce it.
As for how both the AT&T and Cowboys brands might be cross-platform-synergistically-integrated into the new designation for JerryWorld, I’m now rooting for a suggestion inspired by one of our Twitter followers when we asked for possible names on Monday:
“AT&T Dropped Call/Dropped Ball Stadium Starring Jerry Jones’ Dallas Cowboys of Arlington”
UPDATE, 12:20 p.m.: It’s just AT&T Stadium. Yawn. Why does corporate hegemony always have to ruin our fun?
