Over the weekend, our sister publication D CEO took home some serious hardware at a national competition. The contest was sponsored by the Alliance of Area Business Publications, which represents about 70 independent business publications, and it was judged by the School of Journalism at the University of Missouri. Look at the full list of winners, and you’ll notice that D CEO shows up no fewer than eight times, garnering either a gold, silver, or bronze award for: best use of photography/illustrations, best feature, best personality profile, best ancillary publication, best industry-specific e-newsletter, best body of work by a single writer (Christine Perez, bronze), and best overall design. The biggie, though, was the gold for best overall magazine.
The only problem is that the D CEO staff has become insufferable. On the design side, Hamilton Hedrick and Todd Johnson have demanded that no one else at D Headquarters look them directly in the eye. On the edit side, Christine Perez and Jessica Melton have taken over the upstairs bathroom, claiming it is solely for their personal use. I’m told that they’ve had it redecorated and have installed an attendant/doorman who allows in only a select group of visitors that appear on a list maintained by the award-winning ladies. But the worst is Glenn Hunter. Dude came to work today drinking his Starbucks out of a pimp cup and sat through the weekly all-company meeting without taking off his Beats headphones.
If you have a minute, drop one of them an email today ([email protected]) and tell them to get over it.
