There is a lot to like about this. Also, I like the song. First I liked it just because…I liked it: it’s catchy, clever, all that. Now though, even as I get tired of hearing it, I like it because a few weeks back someone who’s usually very smart about such things made a bet with me that the song would never become popular. You can’t dislike a song once it’s earned you free drinks.

I don’t know who you’re referring to, but I highly doubt this person said “never become popular.”

  • Michael J. Mooney

True. The person bet that the song, which is now number one on the Billboard Hot 100, would not make it into the top five by the end of January. I probably could have bet more, because that person was pretty confident at the time.

I was rapping this ‘Thrift Shop’ song to myself, while I was at ‘Goodwill’ the other day, and somehow mysteriously ended up in the ladies’ perfume section in Neiman Marcus. Be careful, folks…..this song has strange powers.
