Only 13 Percent of Texans Have a Favorable Opinion of Cowboys Owner Jerry Jones

Twenty years ago, Jerry Jones might have been the most popular owner in sports. His Cowboys had just won the first of three Super Bowls, and public opinion was sky-high. Now, not so much. In a report released today by Public Policy Polling, researchers found that only 13 percent of Texans have a positive opinion on Jones, while 50 percent have a negative one. Fifty-two percent of Cowboys fans think the team would be better off with another owner, compared to only 14 percent who think the franchise would be worse off.

Bright spot:

Jones isn’t the most unpopular athletic figure in Texas though. That ‘honor’ would go to Lance Armstrong who in spite of his native son status in the state is seen positively by only 16% of voters compared to 59% with a negative opinion, numbers that aren’t a whole lot better than what we found for him on recent Minnesota and Maine polls.

(There’s also some unimportant mumbo-jumbo in the report about Hillary Clinton possibly winning the state in the 2016 presidential election, and some words about how much Texans don’t want Rick Perry to run for president again. You know, unimportant stuff. The full report’s here.)

    What do Dallasites think?

Margin of error is +/- 13 percent.

What Jerry has done to the Cowboys over the last 15 years is a bigger crime than anything Lance Armstrong has done.

If Armstrong has been stripped of his Tour de France titles, who are they going to award them to? He was doping because everyone was doping. If they end up allowing a certain amount of doping which they will probably do will they reinstate his titles?

Don’t get me started on the smartest woman in the world who failed her bar exam.

If only JJ would bring LA in as a minority owner, then the whole organization would have at least one ball.

Unfortunately a portion of those 13% still fill Jerry’s stadium and purchase jerseys. Until the stands are empty it is Jerry’s world and way. Even upon his death it will be the Joneses calling the shots for the entertainment at Jerryworld.

I’ve lived in Dallas since the mid 70’s. I saw America’s Team form & the success that followed. When JJ showed up, it was pretty quick we all knew who he was/where he went in this city. He’s hardly ever seen with his wife; he’d have much younger lady(s) with him, in varios hotspots, drinking heavily. My father commented his observation of JJ’s behavior one evening at the Mansion, “he’s invisible”. Yes, Mr. Entitlement. I’d seen this too; it’s nothing for him to put his hands anywhere he wishes, at any time, on any person. Today, it’s common knowledge that JJ has a carte blanche “kitchen pass” in trade re Ms. JJ has unlimited $$$ for anything. What message is there for these young, talented athletes? Drunk. Invisible. N0 Integrity. N0 Accountablility.Self Will Run Riot. Valueless. And this one: “Dez, because you got into trouble, you cannot go to the titty bar.” What the hell is this? No Strip Club for Dez? Sad. If I’ve got a voice in this club, there is NO clubbing, period. If you are found in a Strip Club, you are off the team – it’s IN the contract. These guys are role models. Our children look up to them. How many of ours are going to end up dead or in Prison because they imitate Josh Brent? Josh Brent was imitating JJ.Who will be next?
