Cumulus Radio Says, ‘Send Us Your Daughters’

By Dan Koller |

Cumulus Radio is looking for salespeople — specifically young, female salespeople. That may also be true of other media companies in Dallas (ahem), but it’s Cumulus’ recruiting tactic that got my attention. I’m a loyal listener of The Ticket, a sports-talk station that scores well in the middle-aged-men demographic. For the past week, I’ve been hearing a commercial that asks The Ticket’s target demo to put their daughters in touch with the sales manager for i93. The spot basically says, “If you’ve got a cute young girl at your house who’s racking up bills without earning any cheddar of her own, we can take her off your hands.” Not that there’s anything wrong with that; I just can’t recall a similar recruitment campaign.
