Two Days, Two “Occupy Dallas” Protests, Two Very Different Groups, Ctd.

Yesterday we talked about the two different groups “occupying” Dallas this week. A few reviews of today’s protest here (behind the paywall) and here. Estimated attendance: about 500. Best sign: “I’ll believe corporations are people when Texas executes one.” Quote from a protester: “This is the children’s future we’re fighting for.” Quote from a police officer on the scene: “The group doesn’t seem to be real organized…We’re not sure what their intents are.”

Well, the good thing is that Hugo Weaving has provided a number of cartoonish vehicles from which we can all dress up in protest. Why stop at a stupid V mask, when you can dress up like Agent Smith (when protesting your lack of ultimate power)? Or Elrond (when a protest requires quiet wisdom)? Or my personal favorie – Megatron! Heck yeah! Megatron doesn’t need an agenda.

@D.Shapiro: Don’t forget Mitzi from The Adventures of Priscilla, Queen of the Desert.

Ha! Yes. How could I forget. Good costume for protesting the status quo, established norms and absent fathers. Hugo gave us Megatron AND Mitzi. Those crazy Nigerians.

  • Who has the time to do this? I guess they are using vacation time.

yes,as the protesters use banks to save their money, or their mommy and daddys money

and eat at all those capitalist places

and where all those clothes made by capitalists many in Vietnamese sweatshops

and where anything they earn IF THEY HAVE A JOB IS STILL 50X MORE THAN A HOMELESS PERSON, making them a “CEO” in the minds of said homeless person

    yeah

    their “protesting”

    jeessshhh

Are you guys seriously bashing the protesters? Almost EVERYONE is part of the 99%. The 99% are the people who are just BARELY getting by. Just BARELY putting food on their tables. They are doing all they can to try and make the lives of their children better. Do you have no heart?
