How Soon Until Water is More Valuable Than Gold?

|

Scary numbers in this Reuters story about the drought in which the state of Texas is mired:

Though May rainfall totals are not confirmed yet, it is clear that only about 1-1/2 to 1-3/4 inches of rain fell across the state, which will make the March-May spring period the driest ever.

Sounds like West Texas and South Texas are having it even worse than us, but we’re not doing so well ourselves. Should I sell all my Krugerrands and stock up on bottled water?

On the bright side, maybe we can get an award-winning magazine cover out of this?
