David Feld Named Editor in Chief of Modern Luxury Dallas

By Tim Rogers |

Following is a memo sent out by Beth Weitzman, vice president over editorial operations for Modern Luxury Media. I have highlighted a part of it that I find very curious.

Greetings Mod Luxe team! I am pleased to announce that David Feld has been named the Editor-in-Chief of Dallas as well as Dallas Group Editor.

A sixth-generation Dallas native, Feld returns to his hometown to take the helm of Dallas after living in New York City and Litchfield County in Connecticut for the last four years. Before heading north, Feld served as creative director of D Magazine Partners for four years, where he lead the editorial team for D, D Home and Garden, and launched D Weddings and D Design Book.

Prior to his time at D Magazine Partners, Feld held the position of editor at large for Papercity, where he wrote a monthly column on design and served as the launch editor of Papercity House. Earlier in his career, Feld was a senior contributing editor at Southern Accents magazine, an editor for House & Garden, a contributing editor at Architectural Digest, and was an associate editor at New York Magazine. He also has written for The New York Times Magazine and The New York Times. Feld is happy to be back and living in the neighborhood where he grew up — Highland Park.

Joining Feld on the Dallas team is Connie Dufner, who has been promoted to Dallas Executive Editor and Editor-in-Chief of Dallas Brides. As some of you already know, Dufner has been a reporter in Dallas since 1983, working at the Dallas Morning News in a variety of roles including home and garden editor, deputy editor/lifestyles, and assistant “Today” editor until 2006, when she joined Modern Luxury Dallas. A Houston native, Dufner lives in North Dallas.

Keep your eyes open as Feld and Dufner take the Dallas magazines to new heights and experience success on a whole new level.

Best,
Beth Weitzman
Vice President, Editorial

During David’s time with us, Rebecca Sherman led the editorial team of D Home. The two are good friends, so I find it odd that he would take credit for that — or allow Beth Weitzman to give him the credit. As for D Magazine, while my co-workers might not appreciate the style in which it was done, from what I recall, I led the editorial team. My memory is horrible, though. Just to make certain, I went back and looked at the masthead of an issue of D Magazine from four years ago. Nope. I remembered correctly. David’s name doesn’t even appear on it.
