Barrett Brown Says Anonymous Not Responsible for Sony Hack

|

Readers of our magazine are probably still trying to finish the profile of Barrett Brown that I wrote for the April issue. Even so, they might be wondering what Brown is up to now. Today he’s got an op-ed in the Guardian, explaining why it’s bollocks that anyone would suggest, despite the “evidence” Sony claims to have found, that Anonymous is responsible for hacking their Playstation network and stealing all those credit card numbers. I tend to believe Brown — but, then again, if Anonymous is responsible, Brown’s defense of the organization is precisely what you’d expect.

In any case, as Brown points out, if the Justice Department is taking the Sony hack “very seriously,” then surely it ought to be investigating the misdeeds of government contractors that Anonymous exposed earlier this year.
