There were no signs of winter weariness at last night’s Super Bowl XLV Host Committee sponsor gala at Billy Bob’s in Fort Worth. Thousands of people streamed into the world’s largest honky tonk–and they were ready to party.

After The Spazmatics (a fun ’80s cover band) and the Kilgore Rangerettes got things started, Texas fave Pat Green took the stage for what turned out to be one big sing-along. Surprise guest Randy Travis joined him for a rendition of “Forever and Ever, Amen,” then the two country stars sang “Happy Birthday” to Host Committee chairman Roger Staubach, who turns 69 tomorrow (Feb. 5). Green took a bottle away from a reveler in the front row, who thought it was funny to spray the crowd with beer, but otherwise things went off without a hitch.

Host Committee president and CEO Bill Lively left about 11ish to head to Jerry Jones’ party. Staying later were Dallas Cowboys players Daryl Johnston and Rayfield Wright, and former Pittsburgh Steelers great L.C. Greenwood. Wright says he’s hoping for a Steelers win, out of respect for his good buddy Greenwood.

Several commercial real estate execs were in the crowd, including Jeff Staubach of Jones Lang LaSalle, Steve Lieberman of The Retail Connection, and Hillwood honcho Mike Berry. Giving his Super Bowl prediction, Berry says he’d like to see Green Bay come out on top, but thinks the Steelers will probably prevail.
