America’s most famous girls next door hosted the Leather & Laces soiree Saturday night at Hotel ZaZa. Holly Madison and Bridget Marquardt were all smiles at the swanky bash, saying hello and posing for pictures with a handful of adoring fans. Bridget arrived first, guarded by towering security guards. She didn’t stop smiling, and she is so much tinier than you’d expect. I’m pretty sure you could fit a bracelet around her thigh. She donned a Playboy-esque jumpsuit, low-cut enough to reveal a pink crystal-studded bra, paired with knee high socks and stilettos.
Holly channeled Marilyn Monroe in a classic black cocktail dress and blonde curls. I was about six inches away from her at one point, and it’s sickening how perfect she looked. (Sorry, girls. She’s definitely not one of those celebs who makes you feel better because she doesn’t look good in person.) You couldn’t convince me that her skin isn’t made of porcelain.
The two disappeared for most of the night, taking refuge at their VIP tables. Holly was spotted doting on a dark, rocker-type guy, but I’ll be frank. I don’t watch E!, so I have no idea who he is.
Hugh Jackman and Weeds star Romany Malco also made an appearance, but unfortunately I never saw them. Poker player Phil Hellmuth loved him some QT with the red carpet, throwing fake punches right and left. Because, you know, poker players have a great left hook. Rocker Phoenix Benjamin also partied the night away. Most people referred to him as “the guy who looks like Kid Rock.”
The hotel lobby hosted the red carpet as well as the crowd of paparazzi awaiting arrivals. The hotel’s two bars, Dragonfly and Urban Oasis, were transformed into one glamorous party. Each of the four rooms came complete with dance floors, DJ’s, and what every Super Bowl party needs: pole dancers. I can’t forget to mention the go-go dancers clad in body paint, feathers, and barely-there lingerie. Their sole purpose was to dance with party-goers and pose for photo opps. They dutifully fulfilled the obligation.
The crowd didn’t thin out as the night went on. In fact, it seemed to get more crowded. I was surprised to see mostly men in their 50s and 60s, but then I realized they’re the ones who can afford the VIP ticket price tag of $850. Their easy-on-the-eyes arm candy enjoyed bottle service and passed hors d’oeuvres from Blue Fish.
Overall, I’d call the party a success. The dance floor was never empty, and the drinks were overflowing well until 2 am. In my opinion, Holly and Bridget could have been a little more visible, but since the crowd was drowning in endless rounds of $1 cocktails, no one else really seemed to care.
