IdealGolfer.Com Launches on November 1

|

Essentially — and yes, I’m quoting from the press release, but they’ve sort of backed me into a corner by coming up with something it’s hard to describe in another way, so blame them not me — it’s “Groupon for golfers.” Intrigued? I hope so, because I’ve cut-and-pasted the full release after the jump. Aren’t you excited! I’m sure Tim will use this and have something to say about it. Right now he’s off getting a new hip.

Groupon for golfers” Debuts its Daily Deals to North Texas Market November 1
iDealGolfer.com <http://iDealGolfer.com> , the daily deal web venture that offers users rounds of golf and more in North Texas for a 50 to 80 percent discount, has gone live and is signing up members for its November 1 launch.

The site —  like Woot.com <http://Woot.com> , Groupon.com <http://Groupon.com> , and others — will offer daily specials that must be purchased within 24 hours to take effect. Targeted to golfers on a budget (also known as “everyone”), iDealGolfer.com <http://iDealGolfer.com> will make it incredibly easy to play your favorite courses, or the courses you’ve been dying to play. How easy? Simply by entering your email address.

“We saw this as a simple, elegant solution that uses the successful Groupon model to satisfy our customer’s needs,” says Craig Rosengarden, CEO of Avid Media Ventures, Inc. in Las Colinas, which also publishes AVIDGOLFER magazine. “In a difficult economy, golfers want an incentive to try new courses and even to play their favorites. And the courses want to find better ways to connect directly with customers who are looking for those incentives. This is the ideal solution.”

The process is simple: After users enter their email address, they receive an emailed deal five days a week. These will often be discounts on rounds at various courses, but will also offer savings on products related to their specific tastes (clubs at a discount, big savings on steakhouse dinners, etc.). The deal is available for purchase for one day, although the deal can be redeemed for a much longer period, depending on the partner.

It’s a business model that has worked well in other industries, and Rosengarden says the response in North Texas to iDealGolfer.com <http://iDealGolfer.com> <http://iDealGolfer.com> has been overwhelming, even weeks before its launch. “We’ve already sold out our first two months of sponsorships,” he says. “People are going to be very excited when they see the quality of courses that have chosen to partner with us. And the deals we’ll offer are really special.”

iDealGolfer.com <http://iDealGolfer.com> ‘s North Texas launch is the first of three planned launches in Texas, and 20 total nationwide by the end of 2011.
