Freddie and Fannie’s Dallas Foreclosure Mill

|

Andy Kroll at Mother Jones details the millions being made by select law firms who are blessed by Freddie Mae and Fannie Mae to handle foreclosures, often using dubious legal tactics to get the job done. He names Barrett Burke Wilson Castle Daffin & Frappier in Dallas as one of the majors in the burgeoning field. Turns out BBWCD&F were also named — in not too flattering terms — by the NYTimes in 2007. And in 2008 they were repeatedly sanctioned by federal judges in Texas for overcharging and filing misleading documents that one judge called “gibberish.” But none of that seems to bother Freddie and Fannie, who still retain them.
