What To Do In Dallas Tonight: June 3, 2010

|

caricatureWhat do you get when you combine wigs, classical instruments (flute, violin, piano, and clarinet), and members of the Polyphonic Spree? You get the Chameleon Chamber Group, tonight’s performers at the Silk Road Lounge at the Crow Collection of Asian Art. The group describes themselves as “electro-acoustic symphony,” and they apparently combine traditional classical music with digital and electronic components for a futuristic sound. I’m just digging the Antoinette-style wigs. Remember: it’s free, and beer and wine samples are given out. Starts at 6. More of what to do after the jump.

The NorthPark Auto Show is also in full swing. Besides gawking at cars, organizers tell us we shouldn’t miss gawking at Indy drivers Danica Patrick and Helio Castroneves, who will be signing autographs outside of Macy’s tonight at 6 pm. They are in town for the Firestone 550K this weekend at the Texas Motor Speedway. Across town, 21 year-old rookie driver Simona de Silvestro and her #78 car will be at Arcodoro & Pomodoro for an event with B.R.M. Watches and Two by Two for AIDS and Art. You have to have an invite to that one, but I’m sure if you happen to drive by at the right moment you can catch a glimpse Silvestro and her car.

Actor/politician Fred Thompson is also signing books tonight, and reggae singer Mishka, a favorite of Matthew McConaughey, is performing at the Granada.
