HP Byron Nelson Championship Gets All Up in the Social Media

|

The Byron Nelson starts May 17. The media tournament is this Friday. I’ll be twittering from the course if you care. Follow me at timmytyper. And speaking of social media, the HPBNC is embracing all of them. Jump to find out how you can win tickets via Twitter and Facebook fun. You know who’s behind the tournament’s social-media push? None other than former D staffer Josh Pearson, whose on-course coverage you no doubt gobbled up last year. Not a bad way to fill your time when you aren’t studying for your law degree. Go, Josh. And go, golf!

Irving, TX, May 4, 2010HP Byron Nelson Championship officials will launch an 11-day social media campaign on Wednesday, May 5. Emulating Byron Nelson’s record of 11 consecutive victories in 1945, the campaign will include an 11-day trivia blitz on the Championship’s Twitter (twitter.com/hpbnc) and an 11-day countdown of the best reasons to go to the Nelson on the Championship’s Facebook (facebook.com/hpbnc) fan page.

Trivia contests will be held once a day at 11 a.m. CST on Twitter. One any day ticket will be awarded to the first correct reply @hpbnc.

The Best Reasons to Go countdown will be revealed daily on Facebook. Fans will have the opportunity to comment on each post with their own best “reason to go.” Each day, one any day ticket will be awarded to the best fan-submitted reason. The top five fan-submitted reasons will be posted on hpbnc.org/fanzone on Monday, May 17, the first day of Championship week. Each of those fans will receive two upgraded tickets to the Championship, with private golf viewing on No. 18 and beverages included.

The 2010 HP Byron Nelson Championship will be played May 17-23 at the TPC Four Seasons Resort Las Colinas in Irving.
