By Tim Rogers |

The full release is after the jump, but here’s the short of it: Gary Schneider had been running the show at KTVT and KTXA since Steve Mauldin left for LA. Now he’ll officially continue to run the show.

GARY SCHNEIDER NAMED PRESIDENT/GENERAL MANAGER

OF CBS TELEVISION STATIONS’ DALLAS-FORT WORTH DUOPOLY

Veteran Station Executive to Oversee Operations of KTVT-TV and KTXA-TV

Gary Schneider has been named President and General Manager of KTVT-TV and KTXA-TV, the CBS-owned stations in Dallas-Fort Worth, it was announced today by Peter Dunn, President, CBS Television Stations.

Schneider, who will report to Dunn, has served as Senior Vice President and Station Manager at CBS 11 and TXA 21 since August 2004, and has assumed the role of General Manager of the stations since December 2009, when his longtime colleague Steve Mauldin was named President and General Manager of KCBS-TV and KCAL-TV, the CBS-owned stations in Los Angeles.

Schneider joined CBS in 2002 as Vice President and General Manager of KEYE-TV, which at the time was the CBS-owned station in Austin, Texas.

“We are very pleased to have a proven leader with the experience and knowledge of the marketplace that Gary possesses taking the reins of one of our largest duopolies,” Dunn said. “Gary has for several years played a key role in driving the growth of both stations’ ratings, revenue and community service and we look forward to having him continue to do an outstanding job with the strong team we have in place in Dallas-Fort Worth.”

“I’m extremely happy to be leading the charge for KTVT and KTXA,” Schneider said. “We have a lot of positive momentum at both of our stations and I look forward to working even closer with our staff, clients and community. I am also excited to work with our local CBS RADIO sister stations as we continue to grow our mutually beneficial joint initiatives. CBS is an excellent company, and I thank Peter and CBS for giving me the opportunity to continue on at the stations in my new role as President and General Manager.”

Schneider previously worked for KTVT as Local Sales Manager from 1987-89, when the station was owned by Gaylord Entertainment. Also during his tenure with Gaylord, Schneider became the youngest Vice President and General Manager in the company at the age of 32 and led KHWB-TV in Houston to the largest one-year financial turnaround of any station in company history. From 1993-96, he served as Vice President and General Manager of KSTW-TV in Seattle, which at the time was owned by Gaylord.

Schneider moved back to Dallas in 1997 and became President of Sky Television, a local multimedia production company. Then in 1998, he founded ROI Interactive, an Internet sales and marketing company that developed the first permission-based email marketing application.
