As Big Bob mentioned over on Unfair Park, to promote her roller-derbying directorial debut, Whip It, Drew Barrymore will be gripping and grinning at the Urban Outfitters in Mockingbird Station tomorrow night around 7 p.m. (You can find all the relevant details after the jump.) Also, she’ll be made an official member of the Dallas Derby Devils. Which, of course, now means we’ll be teammates.

The public is invited to meet Drew Barrymore as she signs autographs and
meets with fans for WHIP IT Fan Day at Urban Outfitters located in
Mockingbird station. The Dallas roller derby league, the Dallas Derby
Devils, will present Barrymore with a team jersey and name her an
official member of the league. Patrons must pick up a wrist band at
Urban Outfitters, located in Mockingbird station, in order to receive an
autograph. The public is encouraged to arrive early to the event as
wrist bands are first come first serve and will be released at 5:30 PM.

WHIP IT, the directorial debut of Drew Barrymore, stars Ellen Page
(Juno) as Bliss, a rebellious Texas teen who throws in her small town
beauty pageant crown for the rowdy world of roller derby. Marcia Gay
Harden (Mystic River, Pollock) plays Bliss’ disapproving mother, while
Kristen Wiig (Saturday Night Live) and Juliette Lewis (Old School) play
roller-derby stars. Also starring Eve, Jimmy Fallon, and Daniel Stern.

About the Dallas Derby Devils
The Dallas Derby Devils originated in November 2004 when this group of
athletic females who enjoyed skating hit the Dallas scene. The Devils
are the original Dallas/Fort Worth Metroplex roller derby league with a
current roster of more than 90 active skaters, making them the largest
flat track roller derby league in the South. There are currently more
than 206 leagues around the nation. When the Devils play, it’s a full
contact, hard-core extravaganza. Each female, armed with her own
on-track persona, exhibits athleticism and sportsmanship while promoting
and maintaining the importance of community involvement. The Dallas
Derby Devils are a proud member of the Women’s Flat Track Derby
Association, a national governing body of flat track leagues that are
skater owned and operated.
