Extreme Makeover: Home Edition To Build Home For Injured Dallas Police Officer
Because, good lord, Carlton Marshall deserves something:
Carlton Marshall lost his hearing and much of his mobility when he was shot in the neck while leading a police SWAT team to serve a narcotics search warrant in Oak Cliff. The father of three was 44 at the time. His spinal cord was damaged. He later had a severe stroke and contracted meningitis. He is still primarily confined to a wheelchair.
Marshall and his family currently live in a dilapidated home with a backed-up septic tank and an infestation of snakes. I won’t be watching the resulting episode, I don’t think, because this post has already brought me to the verge of tears. I teared up during Discovery’s tribute to pitchman Billy Mays, so I doubt I could make it through footage of Marshall being wheeled into a new snake-free home.
