American Airlines And Southwest Stymie Dallas High-Speed Rail?

|

That’s the conclusion of a FrontBurnvian who has studied the issue — and the routes:

Southwest Airlines has a strong lobby that opposes any such high-speed rail, particularly from Dallas to Houston, although they seem to be losing the battle as to their other major service routes out of Dallas Love Field.  Having realized that, however, as I look at the map, it also strikes me that we Dallasites are not linked to the national rail system as a whole.  All we can do is get to Little Rock, Tulsa, and Austin/San Antonio.  If we could get to Houston, we could also then get all the way up the East Coast.  Sounds like American Airlines is having better luck at lobbying against the rail out of Dallas than Southwest – and is sticking it to Southwest along the way.

Perhaps.
