Shawn Williams Takes the DBJ to Task for Overlooking Black Businesspeople

|

Readers of the “print product” will recognize Shawn Williams’ name from the June issue, in which he penned a fine piece about old Red Bird Mall. He also runs a blog called Dallas South. In that forum today, he airs a beef with the Dallas Business Journal, which just named its “40 Under 40.” The problem: there are no black people on the list. Okay, I see his point — to a point. But the thing is, just judging from the names on the list, I don’t see any Eskimos or Indians, either. Shawn says he’s taking nominations for talented black people under 40 in Dallas. But his argument would have been more forceful if he’d suggested a name or two right now that he thinks demonstrates the DBJ‘s shortsightedness. (P.S. I am white.)
