Apparently, the Austin fire department found the lifeless body of Jennifer Gale — the transgendered homeless former Marine who ran for Dallas mayor in 2007 — near the UT campus this morning. I say apparently because the medical examiner has not officially ID’d the body, though witnesses “feel certain” it is her. Gale was more notorious for running for mayor (repeatedly) in Austin, and was possibly ginning up for a doomed bid for the governorship next year. I’ll remember her as one of the few mayoral candidates who was genuinely supportive of my own failed candidacy, even trying to help get a few more of my petitions honored by the city.
