Introducing: We Shot JR Records

|

That’s right: I’m writing about We Shot JR again. Why? For one thing, because I can. For another, I think they’re one of the more interesting collectives to come out of this town in quite some time. That is definitely the case with their latest endeavor, We Shot JR Records, which has its launch party on Friday at Denton’s Time Bandits Vintage. The first three releases from the label are: a 7-inch single from Fight Bite; a 12-inch single from Darktown Strutters; and a split single featuring Orange Coax and Girlfren (not a typo by me, BTW). The only thing that really connects the roster is they are all well worth checking out — though maybe not to everyone’s taste. Anyway, I applaud their moxie, giving this a go when everyone else is scaling back. “What a great time in American history to start a record label, right?” jokes Stoned Ranger. I don’t know. Maybe it is.
