1. A Dallas Morning News investigation prompts a change in Dallas PD policy regarding “showup” identifications. In the future, they’ll only be allowed if the alleged perpetrator goes by the name of a 1980s arcade game. In those cases, however, the officer present will be required to punt a minimum of six footballs to the general vicinity of the suspect to confirm the ID.

2. Tony Romo’s going to play? Tony Romo’s going to play! This is what it’s all about, folks. You know it. (Note: if Romo is smart, he won’t play, and I kind of hope he doesn’t. Unless by Sunday science advances to the point where Romo can be outfitted with a robotic claw equipped with some sort of artificial intelligence that is primarily focused on issues of ball security. In which case, I must insist that he does suit up, because that would be exceedingly sweet, even if it opens up the possibility of a machine revolution and is very likely playing right into the hands of The Architect.)

3. Oh, and there was a debate last night. I typed about five different sentences here, but I suspect the flame war that will inevitably erupt — on this post, or whatever Wick puts up next — needs no fuel from me. I will say that I like the new naming convention McCain unveiled last night (first name, definite article, occupation) and I think we should all adopt it immediately.
