With Larry Kelly, he built the Dallas Opera, using his charm and talent to attract the greatest singers in the world to the stage at the Music Hall. He was, of course, temperamental and demanding in service to his art, and he produced some of the most memorable nights this city has ever seen. The NYTimes obit is here.
