Nastia Liukin Has Her Mitch Gaylord Moment

If this can be believed, the gold-medal-winning gymnast will capitalize on Beijing ’08 by starring in a movie called Chalk It Up with comedian/Sex and the City sidekick Mario Cantone. Will it be as good as the Mitch Gaylord vehicle American Anthem? Doubtful; you can’t beat a story about a rogue gymnast who can’t play by the rules or make his father love him again–or can he? But it might be better than Gymkata. Wait. Just read this sentence in the Gymkata synopsis: “[Jonathan] Cabot must combine his gymnastics skills of the west with fighting secrets of the east and form GYMKATA!” So, strike that. Chalk It Up is bronze material, at best.
