Mount Vernon No Longer for Sale

By Tim Rogers |

Yesterday, the DMN reported that Mount Vernon, the old Hunt estate on White Rock, was for sale. And I wondered why the owners of the house, Teresa and John Amend, weren’t named in the story. But the PR guy for the real estate agent, Keith Nix, was quoted as saying the couple was “downsizing.” And, of course, the agent was Eleanor Mowery Sheets and her husband Nicky Sheets, who are currently feeling the heat from the feds for unpaid taxes. Right. That wasn’t mentioned in yesterday’s story either.

Now comes the follow-up. Turns out the house ain’t for sale. And John Amend sounds a little miffed about the whole thing. Over on DallasDirt, Candy is reporting that Nix told her the Sheets were given permission to list the house in a “hip pocket” fashion.

To me, it feels a lot like a publicity effort backfired here.
