Disgruntled Doctors to Assemble Tonight, Discuss Disgruntlement

Tonight at 7 in the T. Boone Pickens Biomedical Building auditorium, at UT Southwestern, a bunch of local doctors are holding a town hall of sorts to gripe about the Texas Board of Medical Examiners. At issue: some docs feel the TBME has been handing out too many fines for piddly administrative mistakes, like not copying patient records on blue paper (who knew?). I’m thinking about dropping in on the meeting, just so I can get my leg examined.

If you can be disgruntled, can you be gruntled? I’m just wondering.

  2. jrp says:

maybe you should get your head examined, too, ya know for that tramp stamp you have tatooed around your lower leg

sorry, man, couldn’t help myself there…you put up on a tee for me

  3. Dwight says:

    damn, that had to hurt!

  4. Tim Rogers says:

@ jrp: C’mon. Doesn’t it have to be on the small of your back to count as a “tramp stamp”?

You’ve been SuperPoked! Tim Rogers has thrown Maurice Sendak at you.

  5. Bethany says:

Egads, do you have one there, too?

  6. jrp says:

one night about eight years ago during some imbibing, some male friends and me “decided” that any ankle-wrap tatoo and/or barbed wire tatoo around the arm on a man is the equivalent of tramp stamp tatoo on a woman

yeah, well, ya know, that’s just like our opinion, man

and it’s an homage to Where The Wild Things Are? OK, some props for that

First time responder to a blog. Please be serious about the Texas Medical Board and their abuse. Levying fines of thousands of dollars for simple mistakes of charging of $35 versus $25 for copying/reviewing/mailing a complex chart….because of new employee. My goodness, it is hard enough to find good people to work in a medical office and then problems like these? And why some screwy person/client call in a complaint (which are anonymous) like this over $10??? Be nice to physicians and nurses…you will all need them some day!

  8. Dallasite says:

Is that like the Department of Redundancy Department?

  9. JB says:

The TME has to attack doctors for petty documentation mistakes. That’s the only way they are going to make money. They certainly don’t want to do anything serious like go after bad doctors for over prescribing medication or outright crooked billing practices.

  10. TK says:

Actually, the TMB–not the docs– scheduled these “town hall” meetings across the state to give the docs a chance to vent.
