Heritage Auction Galleries’ Embarrassing Blunder

By |

Dallas-based Heritage Auction Galleries must refund thousands of dollars to bidders who were duped into buying fake Hollywood memorabilia last April. One local collector paid more than $4,000 for a whiskey flask purportedly owned by Errol Flynn–though if you’re spending four grand on a flask, you’ve probably got it coming anyway, wouldn’t you think?

This news certainly raises concerns about the authenticity of other items bought at auction. I, for one, am going to be looking into the legitimacy of all my recent purchases. The latest? $30 G’s for Diversity, which I believe is an old, old, wooden ship that was used during the Civil War era.
