Putting out the “print product” has distracted me from running this contest efficiently. My apologies. Jump for your results.
In third place, we have “Fuchsia Woman on Skates,” from CDD. As I said earlier, this picture makes me want to write a short story. Maybe someday I will. Right after I organize my garage and install some of them peg boards on which to hang my tools.
In second place, we have “Warring Beer Chicas,” from Columbiasooner, who was honest enough to admit that he found the image on the Streetviewfun.com site. But the key here is that Columbiasooner realized you could navigate up Storey Lane, northeast, to see the similarly shade-seeking group of women competing for the attention of thirsty men (and certain sapphist women, I suppose). Good stuff.
But our winner is “Eff You, Google Van,” sent in by Robert. Imagine you are the man in the picture. You live in Watauga. Maybe you’re not so happy about living in Watauga. Perhaps because of its proximity to Haltom City. Your yard is a patch of brittle, brown grass that you can’t get to grow because there are no trees in your neighborhood. Your wife has just gotten home with the groceries, and when you go to help bring them in, your yappy little dog gets out of the house. You’ve never liked the dog. Your wife’s idea. And then you look up and see the Google van driving down your street, taking pictures of your neighborhood and your life. You know in an instant what’s going to happen. Some punk months from now will see your picture and make snarky comments about on a blog. So, thinking quickly, before the Google van passes, you flip that bastard the bird. And maybe you even say, under your breath, “Eff you, Google van.”
That, sir, is a solid move. And congrats to Robert for finding the picture. Send me an e-mail with your address, and you’ll soon have your $15 iTunes certificate. Thanks to everyone who participated.
