Kitty Wigs Is Cat’s Meow
A couple of friends of mine told me last night that Anderson Cooper scooped me. They said he had a story on Kitty Wigs, and I didn’t. You win this time, Anderson. Kitty Wigs is the brainchild of Dallas artist/ designer/ cool-person-I-don’t-know-but-would-like-to-meet-someday Julie Jackson. Memory-having FrontBurnervians will remember Jackson from a previous post about Subversive Cross Stitch, which is a) pretty much what it sounds like, b) made into a book, and c) awesome. (Note: These memory-having readers need to have a long, longterm memory, as the post pre-dates a three-year-old switching of servers that vanished the original post into the Internet ether.) Check out the wigs and also the pub from across the pond, with this story in the Sun.
Do they have a “glowing kitty wig” line? http://www.dallasnews.com/sharedcontent/dws/dn/latestnews/stories/121507dnintglowingcats.153da115.html
This chick rocks.
You left out bit about Allison V. Smith’s photo’s that Unfair Park highlighted. So, um, props to AVS.
Nice to meet you, Adam! Thanks for the post.
Yes, please give major props to Allison V. Smith and Jill Johnson for the photos, which convey the concept far more grandly than just words ever could. I’m pretty miffed about the photo credits getting lost on their way across the pond, especially after my insistence that they be included. Without these enthusiastic supporters behind me, Kitty Wigs would still just be another idea rattling around in my crazy head. Allison and Jill made sure it happened.
p.s. D printed a piece about Subversive back in 2004, scooping just about everyone. As a native Dallasite, it made me feel durn proud!
