Dallas Business Bits

By Adam McGill |

Just catching up on some Dallas business doings. The three big ones of note:

1. If you’re buying Christmas presents at CompUSA, don’t bother with the gift receipt. The retailer is closing its stores after the New Year. The move was announced on Friday, but I was out of town. So it doesn’t count.
2. If you’re buying presents for ACS Chairman Darwin Deason, don’t get him stock in the company. He can’t have more than 45 percent, as the company recently ruled. The cap limits his power, and he’s also agreed to relinquish his power to control the board.

3. If you’re expecting presents from someone who works at Range Resources, you might get some natural gas rights. (The company just bought about $305 million worth of Barnett Shale property.) If that’s the case, Santa must have you on the Nice List.
