Where we post up stories/tips/diatribes from FBvians who’ve visited the State Fair. Here’s the first one:
Went to the State Fair on Saturday and made a nice discovery…and no, it wasn’t the deep fried latte (which was awful, by the way). Instead I found serendipity while scouting out cheep beer. The new king of inexpensive, yet tasty, suds is the Chili Parlor, located in the Coca-Cola Food Court (which is just to the east of Big Tex and adjacent to the SkyWay tram). The Chili Parlor is in the far south corner of the building and they are practically giving brews away at a mere five coupons per. Most vendors are gouging to the tune of nine or 10 coupons each.
More important, said Chili Parlor was advertising something called a Shaggy Dog. It is a chili cheese dog (good chili, by the way) covered with Fritos. After I took a bite, I felt like Elaine on the Soup Nazi episode of Seinfeld. I had to sit down.
