Former Southlake Mayor Calls for Apology

|

I hear Good Morning Texas did a segment on our cover story. The Ticket did, too. And here’s the Star-Telegram article. Honestly, I’m pleased the magazine is getting all the free pub — but I’m still struggling to understand what all the fuss is about. Because to me, again, it is patently clear that we were being ironic with the “Why You Should Hate Southlake” headline. Of the two Southlake officials quoted in the Star-T article, I’m with the mayor:

Former Southlake Mayor Rick Stacy said the cover promotes hatred even though the article says great things about the city and football team. He said D owes readers and Southlake an apology. “What they did is sell a bunch of magazines with that title, and that’s mighty low,” Stacy said.

But current Southlake Mayor Andy Wambsganss said he has no problem with the cover. “I’ve lived here 25 years; the article is right on the money,” he said. “There too many other things in life to be mad about.”

Cheers to Mayor Wambsganss (who has a great name, by the way). He gets what Rick Stacy appears to miss.
