Jim has started treatment, it’s a regimen of shots combined with pills, and this usually deprives the cancer of the hormones it requires to survive. This should also work on the cancer that has spread to his spine, we’ll be able to track how successful through periodic tests of PSA blood levels. Side effects are pretty minimal, and once Jim has full mobility from the back biopsy, he should be out on the golf course again. Our next step, once we see how the cancer is reacting to the current therapy is to explore the possibility of a “second line of attack”, through a cancer research center, and give it a good “kick in the ass” while the hormones are starving it to death.
